COACHING COURSES

ATTENTION ALL GAISCE STUDENTS, PARENTS, COACHES.

If any of the above are interested in these courses, in particular, the Assistant Coaching Course, please contact me or Eamon Harvey asap.

On Monday 31st of October at the Abbey Vocational School in Donegal Town, there will be an Assistant Coaching Course from 9.30am - 5.30pm. The cost for this will be €60 and hopefully the club will fund some or all of it. If you are interested in this please contact Eamon Harvey asap as there may only be a limited amount of places left. On 3rd & 4th of December at the Abbey Vocational School in Donegal Town, there will be a Level 1 Coaching Course from 9.30am - 5.30pm, on both days. The cost for this course is €100 and it may be possible for the club to pay part or all, or quite possibly we may be able to obtain a grant for some or all of this. Level 1 Coaching Course


There will be a Level 1 Coaching Course in Sligo/Donegal on the Sat 21st and 22nd of November 2010 and Saturday 11th and 12th of December 2010, 9.30 - 5.30 each day.  Anyone interested in these courses should contact Eamon Harvey on 0872797548 or email: eamon@athleticsireland.ie.  Forms can be found on athleticsireland.ie and returned to Eamon Harvey.

Athletics Ireland develops coaching expertise through its support and educational programmes.

They have five levels of coaching:


Level 3


The highest level of coaching qualification available in Ireland, Level 3 coaches usually specialise in one discipline

Level 2


Level 2 coaches are qualified to coach in at least two of the following four disciplines: sprints, endurance, throws, jumps


Level 1


 A qualification for people interested in general coaching work with children between the ages of 10 to 14


Assistant Coach


Introduces beginners – working alongside a senior coach – to the basics of coaching sprints, endurance, throws and jumps


Athletics Leader

This coaching qualification is designed for people interested in introducing children between the ages 5 and 10 to athletics
